Planting Design & Lawn Conversion

Design Clinics offer an opportunity for you to gain tailored guidance and one-on-one support from our outdoor planting design experts. Our ultimate goal is to empower you with the knowledge, skills, and resources you (and your plants) will need to be successful.

We can help you:

• Choose new plants and learn how to lay them out and get them in the ground.

• Demonstrate relevant tools and techniques for planting and long-term management.

• Help you create a phased plan for larger-scale projects.

• Assist with a custom plant orders to meet your needs and dreams.

Ultimately, you’ll leave feeling empowered and ready to take the next step toward becoming a joyful and activate participant in your own landscape.

We’ll meet in The Lot Next Door (or virtually), and we offer two options so you can choose your own adventure.

QUICK-WIN CLINIC | $75 for 30 minutes
DESIGN INTENSIVE | $195 for 90 minutes

We’d love to help you source plants for your next lawn conversion project. We do request a minimum order of 32 plants (a full flat of plugs) in order to initiate a custom order. If you’re looking for just a few plants, we encourage you to shop our rotating selection of offerings from the Plug Bar in The Lot Next Door.

From the very beginning of Botany, we’ve been on a mission to change our relationship with our landscapes, and we’ve centered our work on replacing conventional, high-input lawns with something better.

Since 2021, we’ve helped more than 60 neighbors convert their lawns into designed plant communities teaming with life and beauty.

We’ve planted thousands of plants over the past few years, but we’ve always been limited in the number of projects and partners we can take on in a given season.

Taught by our Founder and CEO, Ben, these workshops build upon not only our past few years of experience, they also draw upon more than a decade of experience in public botanical gardens and Ben’s own gardening practice. He’ll share the how, what, when, and why when it comes to committing to any scale of lawn conversion.

These workshops are intended to empower your DIY spirit, enabling and inspiring you to become a joyful and active participant in your own outdoors in a choose-your-own-adventure format.

We have very limited availability when it comes to off-site visits, and this is currently a service we offer only after we’ve connected first via a Design Clinic in The Lot Next Door.
