Meet Your Instructor

John Raven

John Raven, a certified Spinefulness instructor, has been studying the art of natural alignment, pain-free posture, and movement for 16 years and teaching it for 8. Over the years, he has trained extensively with both leading French and American teachers in this work, taking over 20 extended trips to California and France, often spending two months or more in France at a time to learn from the best teachers in the world. Today, as an American expat in France, John serves as a unique bridge between the pioneering French experts and the leading American teachers of this work.

The Botany Shop focuses on how we can relieve body pain through improving posture and natural alignment.

Through an eye-opening slideshow, you’ll discover the real reason so many of us are in pain. Experience how a few simple shifts in how you sit can make you feel better over and over again. An individual assessment will show you exactly where the problem lies and what to do. This empowering, restorative class is for all ages and body types. You’ll leave feeling better than when you arrived—and with tools you can use anytime, while sitting at your desk or out in the garden.

The Botany Shop teaches how to sit, stand, bend, walk, and lie down in ways that relieve pain, prevent injury, and bring deep relaxation to your body.

Whether you’re fit but injured, dealing with chronic tension, or simply tired of feeling tired all the time, this course helps you rebuild natural strength and alignment from the ground up. You’ll receive personal feedback in every class, tailored to your body and needs — so you can shift long-standing posture and movement patterns into habits that restore ease, energy, and self-trust.
